Penguin Shift

🐟

Today, I got to pull my first dive shift at the penguin exhibit at California Academy of Sciences!

Their exhibit holds the endangered African Penguin (colloquially known as the jackass penguin due to their call sound 😄)

I provided surface support for the diver in the water since I’m still learning the ropes with the exhibit (the penguins are a carefully guarded asset). The diver’s job was to first pick up any empty shells by hand and then, using a large water vacuum, suck up any detritus.
